Carol, a local who hails from Longboat Key with a nice Red.

Carol, a local from Longboat Key with a nice Red.

Carol, who lives on Longboat Key, and her son-in-law Matt from Connecticut, Booked a Charter with me out of CB’S Outfitters on Siesta Key this past week.

Before we left the dock I told Matt, who is an avid fisherman, that fishing has been a little slow due to low and slow tides But that today’s tides might allow us to get into an area where I had seen some redfish earlier in the week.

Shortly after arriving at our spot Carol hooked this sought after redfish using a popping cork and live shrimp. Just like a pro she brought the fish to the boat after several long runs. The morning ended with several more reds being caught and safely released as well as some jacks and a large unidentified fish that pulled out the drag on the reel but got away.

You never know what you might catch in our local waters unless you get out and try.

Capt. Chuck Cress

Fishing has been a lifetime passion for me. Depending on the skill level of my clients what I like to do is put them on big fish using artificial lures. I like to educating and passing on my knowledge of local history and the many sights the area has to offer while we are on the water.
